Single Project
If the “Show Files” toggle is set to On the folder hierarchy is recreated and all files within the selected structure are downloaded there. If it is set to Off then a completely empty folder structure is created. BIMrx® Cloud Manager will even download a single file or empty folder if requested.
To select a single project for downloading, make sure the “Multi-Select” button A is set to Off. To download files, the “Show Files” button B must be set to On.
When “Show Files” is set to Off BIMrx® Cloud Manager creates an empty folder structure matching that of the project. This could prove useful as a first step when populating a local repository for use in uploading files to Autodesk® BIM 360®.
Once a project is selected from the left-side browser, the item on the right-side browser is ready to be selected. This can be any folder, subfolder, or even a specific file C.
Next, press the button D to initiate the download.
Select which type of download you want to perform by selecting a Download Type E.
Make sure the Download Folder F is set. If one was entered previously, it is stored as the default entry and restored on presentation of the dialog box. It can be changed to a different location by pressing G to bring up the folder selection dialog box. The user can also enter the path manually or copy and paste from the desired location. With the download location entered (or just verified), press the button to begin the download process.
Please Note—The download dialog box, while it always performs the same functionality as described above, presents a slightly different title and information depending on the combination of Multi-Select and Show Files settings in place when the download is initiated. This serves as context-sensitive help and is intended to assist the user in smooth and efficient operation of the system. For example, initiating a Download with “Multi Files” set to Off and “Show Files” set to Off produces the following dialog box:
As the above dialog box states, downloading for a single project with Show Files set to Off downloads just the folders for the project. This could be useful for providing a folder template when uploading files—either for an existing or a newly-created project.
When downloading files with Show Files set to On, as shown above, BIMrx® Cloud Manager creates the same path locally that is found in Autodesk® BIM 360® and—according to the designated Download Type—places all files in the structure there.
Please note— BIMrx® Cloud Manager always downloads or references the most recent version of the selected file(s), represented by the file version information displayed in the browser. There is no reason to ever select the version, since the result would be the same as selecting just the file, itself.
Tip—Use Downloads to create an empty project folder structure as a first step toward populating a local repository for use in uploading local files to Autodesk® BIM 360®.
